The 2023 Zonta Area 1 in-person seminar will be hosted by the Zonta Club of Hilo. The Area 1 Seminar brings leadership and members together to collaborate, socialize and reaffirm our mission to build a better world for women and girls. This year’s theme centers around the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Scholarship Program by Zonta International.

Details:

Governor Debbie Angwood will attend the Area 1 Seminar, her first trip to Hawaii Island, she will arrive in time to attend the Friday Pau Hana event.  It will be a wonderful opportunity to interact with our vivacious, enthusiastic District 9 Governor.

On Friday, January 13, upon arrival at Hilo International Airport take a taxi to Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, That evening will be a fun and casual pau hana social with heavy pupu hosted by Deb Lewis and Doug Adams at their residence. Transportation will be provided from the hotel to Deb and Doug’s residence and back to the hotel.

On Saturday, January 14, Breakfast options are available from 7:30am, in the WSW resturant on the lobby level.  Seminar starts at 9:00am in the Mala Ikena Room.  Interactive workshops on “fun” fundraising ideas, a creative membership recruitment and retention panel, followed by a vibrant discussion on advocacy opportunities for clubs to support in Area 1.    We have the pleasure of celebration and honoring two Amelia Earhart Fellows who are currently attending University of Hawaii at Manoa. The seminar will end at 3:00 pm, and transportation will be provided from the hotel to the airport.
